Calacatta, Oro and Viola

Calacatta Gold marble in the Curl fluted mosaic profile, supplied on 305 x 305mm mesh sheets with a honed finish. The flutes are narrow vertical ribs cut into the stone face, so the surface holds a shadow line instead of sitting flat. Calacatta is a white marble with warm gold and grey veining, and on a fluted face the veins break across the ribs rather than running clean, which changes how the pattern reads next to a flat tile. Honed marble is matt, not glossy, and takes a penetrating sealer before grouting. The sheets butt together on the wall, so dry lay a run first and line up the ribs so the joints between sheets are hard to pick.
