Repubblica was established in Canberra in 2015. Today, our family-run team helps clients across Australia choose and source beautiful whole-home finishes.

The scale may be different, but the care isn’t.

Our story

Repubblica is the natural evolution of more than a decade spent listening to clients and responding to what their projects actually need.

Bruno and Sonia grew up around tiles, trades and construction in a Southern Italian family with a strong tradition of building businesses from the ground up. Bruno studied finance, Sonia architecture, and in the early days Bruno could be found supplying tile adhesives from the back of his Hilux while Sonia looked after clients, administration and the detail behind the business.

As clients needed more, the business evolved. Adhesives expanded into tiles, then tapware, bathware, vanities, natural stone, flooring and a much broader range of interior finishes.

Vincenzo has long been part of the operational side of that growth, overseeing warehousing, samples, stock and the practical work of getting products safely from us to our clients. Jessica brought interior design, selections, marketing and digital strategy, helping build the online business, shape the Repubblica brand and create new ways for clients to work with us beyond the showroom.

Today, the four of us bring those different areas of expertise together with one shared focus: great products, knowledgeable service and continually evolving around what our clients need.

Repubblica now supplies tiles, natural stone, tapware, bathware, vanities, basins, toilets, mirrors, flooring and more. Our team can help from early selections and design consultation through to specification, procurement, supply and delivery, or you can simply shop online when you already know exactly what you need.

We work with homeowners, renovators, builders, trades, interior designers, architects and developers. Our experience ranges from individual bathrooms and whole-home selections through to high-end residential, multi-residential, hospitality and large-scale commercial procurement.

The goal is not to make every project work the same way. It is to give our clients the convenience of bringing more together in one place, with the expertise available whenever they need it.

From Canberra to Australia-wide

Our beautiful 1000m2 showroom and warehouse are based in Canberra, but Repubblica has been built with an Australia-wide future in mind.

Through our online store, samples and digital consultations, we can work with clients wherever they are. We’re especially passionate about what that makes possible for regional and rural Australia, where access to large interiors showrooms, broad product ranges and experienced selection support can be limited.

We want to bring the best parts of working with a great family-run showroom online: personal service, genuine product knowledge, design expertise and people who care about the outcome.

Meet the founders

Sonia Ciancio

Co-Founder | Architecture, Client Relations & Project Administration

An architect by profession, Sonia brings years of design experience, exceptional attention to detail and a deep understanding of how the many parts of a project need to work together.

She works closely with clients on selections and design decisions while overseeing client relations, administration, orders and project timelines. Her architectural background gives her both an aesthetic and practical understanding of finishes, while years of project experience make her exceptionally good at keeping details, communication and deadlines on track.

Bruno Ciancio

Co-Founder | Commercial, Trade, Procurement & Logistics

Bruno has been around tiles, trades and construction from a young age and brings more than a decade of experience supplying residential and commercial projects throughout the ACT and across Australia.

With a background in finance, his expertise spans builder and trade supply, commercial procurement, manufacturing, logistics and large-scale project delivery. He works closely with builders, renovation companies, tilers and other trades to source products, solve supply challenges and keep projects moving.

Jessica Lowe

Co-Founder | Interior Design, Marketing & Digital Strategy

Jessica is an interior designer with particular expertise in whole-home selections, colour and materials. She has a knack for quickly understanding the vision behind a project and translating it into a cohesive palette of finishes across the entire home.

She also works closely with interior designers and specifiers and leads Repubblica’s marketing, creative direction and digital strategy, with a passion for discovering beautiful products, connecting people with the brand and showcasing the spaces those products become part of.

Vincenzo Santamaria

Co-Founder | Warehouse & Operations

Straight from Italy, Vincenzo runs Repubblica’s warehouse and has long been an important part of keeping the operational side of the business moving.

He oversees stock, samples, incoming deliveries, storage, collections, order preparation and dispatch, making sure products are handled carefully and ready to get where they need to go. He can usually be found somewhere in the warehouse with a smile on his face, and has more than earned his unofficial title of master of the forklift.

Cannoli

Chief Welcome Officer

Cannoli is responsible for showroom greetings and maintaining extremely high standards of customer attention.

His preferred workstation is a patch of sun beside the front door, where he is often found asleep while waiting for visitors. Once someone arrives, they can expect a butt wiggle, a full-body happy dance and the immediate assumption that they have come specifically to admire him.

Pats, praise and general adoration are considered mandatory. His knowledge of tiles remains limited.
