Marble Tiles

Marble fluted mosaic sheets, honed, at 305 x 305mm. The stone is cut into half round rods and set on mesh, so the finished surface is ribbed rather than flat. Four marbles are covered: Carrara, Calacatta Gold, New York and Rosso Levanto, running from grey veined white through to deep red. Fluting reads strongest where light rakes across it, which is why it tends to go on vanity fronts, splashbacks and walls rather than floors. Sheets are sold individually, so a square metre figure has to be converted to whole sheets and rounded up. Marble is porous: seal it before grouting, or the grout colour will settle into the face of the stone.
