Feature Tiles

The Calella mosaics are natural stone sheets that mix rectangles and squares in one repeating pattern. Stones take in travertine classic, gris travertine, tundra grey, bottocino limestone and light bianco oro, so the palette sits in grey, beige and white. Mosaic sheets are laid like a large tile and the joints between sheets need staggering, or the grid becomes obvious across the wall. Natural stone varies from sheet to sheet, so dry lay several before fixing and mix them as you go. Stone takes grout into its pores unless sealed first, and a grout close to the stone colour keeps the mixed rectangle and square pattern readable rather than gridded.
