Limestone mosaics in two profiles: Curl fluted sheets at 305 x 305mm, and a Bastoni kit kat sheet at 298 x 304mm. The stones are Botticino, a warm cream to beige limestone, and Utica, a paler grey beige, both honed to a matt face. Limestone is softer and more absorbent than marble, so it marks more readily and a penetrating sealer matters more, especially behind a basin or a cooktop. The honed finish keeps the surface matt, which hides light scratching better than a polished stone would. Colour shifts from sheet to sheet are normal in limestone. Open several boxes and mix the sheets as you lay rather than working through one box at a time.
