Medina Tiles

The beauty is in what each tile does differently

Medina is genuine Moroccan Zellige, shaped and glazed by hand rather than manufactured to look perfectly uniform. Subtle ripples in the face, softened corners, glaze pooling and shifts in tone are part of the material. Once installed, those differences catch light at slightly different angles and give the wall its depth. If a more regular surface is the goal, this may not be the right collection. Let the square format give the glaze structure

The 100 x 100mm square creates a charming grid that suits splashbacks, vanity walls and smaller feature areas. Its orderly shape gives the handmade variation a calm framework, while softened corners and irregular edges keep the grout lines from feeling machine straight. Lay several pieces together to see how the glaze shifts across the group, then ask the installer to prepare a sample panel before the full set out is agreed.

Let colour respond to the materials around it

Medina colour has real depth because the glaze does not sit identically on every piece. White and wheat shades bring softness beside oak and pale stone. Emerald and kelp greens feel grounded with aged brass, while blue, cerise, rust and butter yellow can become the colour moment in an otherwise quiet room. Look at several loose pieces together, not a single sample, and hold them upright. Morning light, warm evening light and reflections from cabinetry can each draw something different from the glaze.

Give kitchens and bathrooms a surface worth noticing

Across kitchen splashback tiles, Medina brings texture to the space between cabinetry without relying on a printed pattern. On bathroom walls, it can make a vanity, niche or selected shower wall feel far more personal. Compare the collection with other bathroom tiles, then confirm that the exact Medina product suits the proposed wet area. Benchtops, tapware and grout should be viewed beside the tiles before the final palette is signed off.

Let the installer compose the wall

A Medina installation should be arranged, not taken from one box in sequence. Open several boxes and spread the pieces out so pale and deep tones, flatter faces and more expressive edges are balanced across the wall. The installer should confirm the substrate, adhesive, sealing approach, grout width and edge treatment for the chosen product. Keep cuts away from the most visible corners where possible. That care preserves the handmade character while giving the finished layout a calm overall rhythm. For a broader comparison, browse wall tiles.

Frequently asked questions

What are Medina Zellige tiles?

Medina tiles are handmade ceramic Zellige tiles from Morocco. Each piece is individually shaped and glazed, so natural differences in colour, surface and edge are expected.

What size are Medina Zellige tiles?

The current Medina range uses a 100 x 100mm square format. Check the individual product page before ordering, as availability and product details can change.

Why do Medina tiles vary from piece to piece?

The tiles are formed and glazed by hand, and the firing process creates shifts in tone, texture and reflectivity. The variation is intentional and should be blended across the wall during installation.

Can Medina tiles be used for a kitchen splashback?

Selected Medina tiles are intended for walls, feature walls and splashbacks. Confirm the exact product, sealing approach and cleaning requirements before installation, particularly around cooking and preparation areas.

Can Medina Zellige tiles be used in a bathroom or shower?

They can be considered for suitable bathroom and shower walls when the individual product is specified for that location. Confirm the waterproofing system, substrate, sealing and installation method with the supplier and installer.

How should Medina Zellige tiles be cleaned?

Use a soft cloth or nonabrasive sponge with a mild, pH neutral cleaner. Avoid acidic or abrasive products, and follow the care and sealing advice supplied for the chosen tile and grout.
