Orange Tiles

Orange spans a broad band of tile colour, from soft terracotta and clay through rust and burnt orange to deeper brick tones. Colour in this band moves a great deal with light: a tile that looks muted under showroom lighting can read much stronger across a full wall, and warm globes push it further again. Order samples and look at them in the room itself at different times of day, against the joinery, benchtop and paint the tile will sit beside. Grout matters as much as the tile. A white joint frames every piece and breaks the colour into a grid, while a grout matched to the tile lets the surface read as one field. Warm oranges sit close to timber and brass, and take on more contrast beside grey or black fittings.
