Prato Tiles

Let the glaze do the decorating

Prato has a rich gloss over a softly undulating ceramic surface, so the colour shifts as daylight moves across the wall. That small amount of reflection gives splashbacks and bathroom walls depth without introducing a busy pattern. Hold samples upright beside the benchtop, vanity or cabinetry, then look again under evening lighting. White feels crisp, beige is warmer, blush has a soft rosy cast, and the blues and greens become stronger or quieter depending on the surrounding finishes.

Choose square or subway by the rhythm you want

The 100 x 100mm square creates an orderly grid with a slightly nostalgic mood. The 75 x 150mm subway has a longer line and can be stacked, offset or turned vertically. Compare the wider square tiles and subway tiles if shape is still undecided. With Prato, the non-rectified edge and gently varied face soften both formats, so the finished wall feels considered rather than rigid.

Give colour a clear role in the room

A colour works best when it has a reason to be there. Basil green can anchor pale stone and warm timber, light blue sits beautifully with brushed nickel, and blush brings warmth to white or walnut cabinetry. Mint feels fresher and quieter, while beige creates a mellow backdrop for brass or aged metal. Keep grout close to the tile when colour should read as one surface. Use a soft contrast when the square grid or subway layout deserves more attention.

Use Prato where walls deserve some personality

Prato is an indoor ceramic wall tile intended for walls, feature walls and splashbacks. It is a natural fit among kitchen splashback tiles, especially when the joinery is simple and the glaze can catch the light. In bathrooms and ensuites, use it behind a vanity, around a bath or on a specified wall area. Browse bathroom tiles separately for suitable floor and wet-area surfaces rather than assuming a wall tile can be used underfoot.

Plan the set out before the first tile is fixed

Small formats make every edge, joint and interruption visible. Ask the installer to centre the layout around the main sightline and plan corners, niches, power points and cabinetry before work begins. The softly irregular edge is part of Prato's character, so the grout joint should allow that variation to sit comfortably. Order from one batch where possible and keep spare pieces for future repairs. A dry layout with the chosen grout is the simplest way to see how colour and shape will read together.

Frequently asked questions

What are Prato tiles made from?

Prato tiles are glazed ceramic wall tiles with a glossy, softly undulating surface. They are designed to bring colour and reflected light to indoor walls and splashbacks.

Where can Prato tiles be used?

Prato is specified for indoor walls, feature walls and splashbacks, including kitchens, bathrooms, ensuites and laundries. It is not listed as a floor or outdoor tile.

Which sizes are available in the Prato collection?

Prato is available as a 100 x 100mm square tile and a 75 x 150mm subway tile. The two formats can use the same colour palette while creating very different rhythms.

Which colours are available in Prato tiles?

The collection includes White, Beige, Blush Pink, Light Blue, Mint Green and Basil Green. Compare samples beside the room's fixed finishes because the glossy glaze responds to surrounding colour and light.

Are Prato tiles perfectly flat and uniform?

No. Prato has a softly undulating face and non-rectified edges that give the surface gentle variation. Discuss the grout joint and set out with the installer so this character reads naturally across the wall.

Which grout colour suits Prato tiles?

A grout close to the tile colour creates a softer field of glaze. A contrasting grout makes the square or subway layout more graphic. Test the combination on a small dry layout before installation.
