Feature Wall Tiles

A feature wall works when it gives the room one clear focal point. It might be the wall behind a vanity, the end of a bath or the kitchen wall you see from the dining table. Before falling for a pattern, choose the wall and the mood you want it to bring; that decision makes the tile choice much easier.

In the bathroom, pick the view

For a bathroom-focused selection, explore our bathroom feature wall tiles. A coloured vanity wall draws attention to the basin and mirror, while a tiled shower wall can give a simple room more depth. If the floor already has movement, a quieter wall tile may let both surfaces breathe.

Let the shape do some of the work

Mosaic tiles give a smaller wall lovely detail. Kit Kat tiles bring fine vertical lines, especially behind a vanity. Subway tiles can feel calmer in a stacked layout, while Zellige & Moroccan tiles bring variation in gloss and surface. The same colour can feel graphic, soft or richly textured depending on the format.

Colour with something to sit beside

Green tiles feel grounded with warm timber and creamy stone. Blue tiles can bring freshness to a pale room or depth beside brass and oak. White tiles can still be a feature when the shape, finish or grout gives them character. Hold your favourites next to the actual benchtop, cabinetry and tapware before settling on a colour.

Beyond the bathroom

A kitchen splashback is another natural place for a feature wall, especially when the rest of the cabinetry is simple. Explore kitchen splashback tiles for that application. For smaller accent details and patterns, see feature tiles. This collection focuses on walls; check the individual product's intended use before planning floors or wet areas.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a tile suitable for a feature wall?

It is the combination of location, colour, format and finish, not a separate tile material. Choose the wall first, then select a tile specified for its exact application.

Can I use feature wall tiles in a shower?

Some wall tiles suit shower areas and others do not. Review the individual product's intended wet-area use and installation information with your tiler before committing to the design.

Should a feature wall cover the entire bathroom wall?

It can, but it does not have to. A vanity wall, shower wall or smaller niche can each give the room a focal point. The best extent depends on the sightlines, cabinetry and the other tiled surfaces.

How do I keep a feature wall from feeling too busy?

Let one surface carry the most colour or pattern. Repeat a quieter undertone in the floor, paint or cabinetry so the wall has something calm to sit beside.

Which grout colour works with feature wall tiles?

Matching grout lets the tile's colour and surface variation lead. Contrast makes the shape and pattern more graphic. Compare both beside the room's quieter finishes so the wall feels connected, not separate.

How should feature wall tile samples be compared?

Stand several samples upright on the wall you plan to feature and view them from the room's main entrance. Look again in morning and evening light, then compare the strongest tile with the floor, cabinetry and tapware.
